Represented: Celebrating Diversity in American Art

May 16–Aug. 18, 2019

J. Wayne Stark Galleries | Memorial Student Center, MSC 1110

Using examples from the university’s collections, this exhibition will focus on African American, Hispanic American, Asian American, and Native American artists. These artists traditionally have been underrepresented in art history textbooks and the American art scene over the last century. Drawing attention to their accomplishments will forge a more complete understanding of American art history. Artists featured in the exhibition include John Biggers, Luis Jimenez, Allan Houser, and Dong Kingman to name just a few.
